Having a look around
A late afternoon encounter with a polar bear in the Svalbard pack ice. When we sighted a bear the captain pointed the ship towards them and then turned the engines off. We then waited for the bears to come to us. As the bears approached they frequently stopped to smell the air and to look for the easiest route to the ship.
