Up close and personal
This picture was taken from the safety of the ship as we sailed through the pack ice off Nordaustlandet at Austfonnna in Svalbard. This polar bear came across the pack ice to give us the once over. It came right up to the side of the ship before retreating about twenty yards and then lying down to clean itself and have a rest.
